The lobby of the landmark 1924 Stephen F. Austin Hotel was fully restored
in 2000. The original detailing of the historic lobby was destroyed during
the numerous previous remodeling projects. Materials of granite, long
woods, cast and wrought iron, and plaster ornamentation were recreated
from exhaustive research and working with artisans who still utilize rarely
used techniques of construction.
