The Stephen F’s Bar is located on the second floor of the historic Stephen F. Austin Royal Sonesta Hotel in downtown Austin and is welcome to the hotel’s guests and the general public. Easily accessible from the hotel’s lobby, conference areas and ballroom, the bar’s cozy indoor seating area and layout feature detailed wood paneling and crown moulding, stepped coffer ceilings and painted plaster finishes, in keeping with the rest of the historical hotel’s design elements. The elegantly refined seating bar features an expansive granite countertop and backlit liquor display shelves.  The numerous paired mahogany perimeter doors allow for abundant natural light as well as easy access to its airy outdoor seating balcony overlooking the historic Texas State Capitol, the Paramount Theater and other historic buildings along Congress Avenue. Renovated and updated along with the rest of the hotel, the balcony’s existing historic guardrails were retrofitted with additional higher guardrails to meet current code standards. For overly sunny days, integrated operable wall-mounted awnings can be extended to generously provide shading during those Texas afternoons.  Wall-mounted heating elements are used during cooler evenings allowing for the balcony to be enjoyed year-round.
