Freddie's Place

Description:

Freddie’s Place restaurant, located just south of downtown Austin, was a remodel of an existing 3,070sf shell building that was occupied previously by a restaurant. For the remodel, the client was seeking to create a family oriented casual atmosphere to reflect the restaurant’s intended menu of scratch made Texas comfort food. For this, the design intentionally sought to make as many surfaces and spaces as rustic as possible. Its existing wood roof rafters and beams were left exposed. This became a central theme of its new design’s character. The interior incorporated a large circular dining counter with a cozy rustic tabletop fireplace and a music stage just beyond. The bar area, with an indoor bar counter and an outdoor window counter, was positioned to provide the flexibility to serve the customers located both inside and out.  The back-lot area, that sits along a huge grove of oak trees and a creek, was turned into an outside dining and bar area with multi-level wooden decks, a playscape area, a main music stage and fire pit.
